Tips for better astronomical observation

1.- Be patient: observing the celestial vault is a trip of self-knowledge, nothing gets that easy and sometimes it can be exasperating. So my advice is to consult astronomical calendars so you do not waste time looking for objects that are probably not visible that day.

2.- Do not waste money: you may think that if a telescope is really expensive, it should be the best, but if you are a beginner, it is better to buy a basic and cheap one to master your knowledge of astronomy. after that and if you have the possibility you can buy a professional telescope.

My first telescope:

My current telescope:

3 Take care of your telescope: The telscope has optic parts that are relly fragile, never try to clean it with liquids or soap. For that yopu can buy special cleaning items for telescopes.

4 Share your hobby: Do not be selfish with your telescope, you can invite your friends or family to observe the  wonderful night sky.

What can I observe? part 2

What about the planets?

In fact Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn can be seen with the naked eye, using the telescope you can see the planet more detailed.

It is really amazing to see the beautiful planet Saturn, you can see its ring system with any type of telescope.

You can see the largest satellite called titan

Jupiter is the biggest planet of the solar system, it has 4 satellites that are visible, they were discovered by Galileo Galilei.

Mars, the red planet, could be difficult to find and probably you have to wait until it is close to our planet in order to observe it better.

Venus is the shiniest celestial body after the sun and the moon, you can even se its phases just like the moon.

The moon is our only natural satellite it has seas, mountains and a lot of craters

What can I observe?

The most commont question when you get a telescpe is "What can I observe?"

There is a wide variety of objects in the universe that can be observed with a telescope.

For example it is easy to observe the Orion Nebula it could be the cradle of the sun.

This nebula is located near the "three wise men" or the "orion belt".

It is also wonderful to observe the "ring" nebula through the telescope

located in the constellation of the same name.

The star clusters are very beautiful, you can easily see the pleiades,
located at 400 light years near the taurus constellation.

Carefull: Some of the pictures look colorfull because they are photos, saddly the human eye cannot see that kind of color. But with the astrophotographyy or the use of filters you can get amazing results.

Basic astronomy

In this blog my intention is to guide all people who are interested in the wonderful world of astronomy. You do not need an expensive telescope, a cheap one is enough to start this hobby.

Here are some examples of cheap but useful telescopes:

Now, before you buy one please consider the following:

1.- There are two basic types of telescopes: Galilean (refractor) and Newtonian (refelctor)

2.- Refractors are mostly used to observe shining objects such as stars, planets, cumulus and the moon.

3.- Rflectors are especialized in diffuse objects such as nebulas and galaxies.

(however it is possible to observe any kind of celestial objects with both types of telescopes)
